Udaipur at an easy pace
Palaces on the lake, gardens by Fateh Sagar and a hilltop sunset palace. Three days in Udaipur, with tips on when to walk and when to take a car.

Udaipur is built around water. Lakes, palaces and old lanes make it one of Rajasthan's most relaxed cities to explore, as long as you plan around the heat and the hills. This is the app's starting route, drawn from Rajasthan Tourism's guide to the city.
Day 1 · Old city and Pichola
Spend the first day on foot in the old city beside Lake Pichola. Start at the City Palace, the vast palace complex above the lake. Walk to Jagdish Temple, close by in the old city, then on to Bagore Ki Haveli, an old mansion on the waterfront.
Bagore Ki Haveli is also known for its evening cultural show. Check availability and timings separately, as they aren't part of a standard visit.
Day 2 · Fateh Sagar gardens
A greener, slower day to the north. Visit Saheliyon Ki Bari, the "garden of the maidens", with its fountains and lotus pools. Continue to the Maharana Pratap Memorial on the hill above Fateh Sagar Lake, and finish by the lake as the light softens.
Day 3 · Western hills and crafts
Head west of the city. Shilpgram is a rural arts and crafts village where you can see regional crafts and architecture. Then go up through Sajjangarh Biological Park towards the Monsoon Palace, which sits on a hilltop with wide views over the lakes and is a favourite for sunset.
Pace notes
- Walk the old city, drive the rest. The old city is made for walking, but arrange a vehicle for the hilltop palace and the western sights.
- Watch the weather. Lake and hill visits depend on conditions, so keep a flexible slot in your plan.
- Plan around the midday heat. Put walking in the morning and evening, with a long lunch in between. On a Chill pace the app plans two stops a day, which suits this.
Opening hours and access change, so confirm them before you go. Stops and day themes follow Rajasthan Tourism's Udaipur guide.
